The "How To" Guide - VFF Edition 2022

Hello everyone :)

Welcome to the first ever article on the Tchalaworldwide!

First of all, we wanna thank everyone who has signed up so far, it’s absolutely crazy to see this passion project come to life and get positive feedback from you lot.

Said that, a lot of you have been asking questions about Venice Film Festival which will be opening on August 31st and closing on September 10th, and since Bones and All will be premiering exactly in a week we decided to put together a quick survival guide - how to meet cast and crew based on our experiences from 2019 and 2021.

The festival takes place on the Venetian island of Lido which is about twenty minutes away from Venice. The entrance to the festival is free. If you are in Venice, not necessarily for Timothée, we recommend taking a trip to the Lido because it’s gonna be an otherworldly and immersive experience. The atmosphere throughout the festival is simply magical.

A typical day will start just before midday when the cast and crew will arrive at the conference hall - the press conference is opened only to the press but normally is live-streamed online. A good place to see the cast arrive is at the famous “Balconata” of the Hotel Excelsior (accessible to everyone - keep in mind that it will get very crowded, be there or be square!). You will be able to see Timothée here both before the press conference and red carpet. Celebrities usually do not stop with fans here but lucky for us, Timothée is not the average celebrity.

The next hot spot is the infamous red carpet. The red carpet is finally back to its former glory and opened to the public just like before covid. Access to it is free but be aware that it’s first come, first serve - there is limited space. It is not like queuing for a concert, generally, people start gathering right after lunch - early afternoon because the red carpet is placed in the middle of the main street in front of the “Palazzo del Cinema” and often, there is more than one premiere during the day. When you get there, you probably will be directed on where to go by the “firsts” in line or just simply place yourself at the end of the line. Please be respectful of others and do not cut the line. Since Bones& All premiere is scheduled at 7 pm, the red carpet will start an hour or so before.

Tickets for both 7 pm and 8 pm screenings are now sold out. If you are accredited, you still can book tickets for the 8 pm screening starting tomorrow(check your inbox for an email from the Biennale for further info). If you find someone selling tickets on Twitter or somewhere else, make sure you confirm everything is in order to avoid getting scammed( we contacted the Biennale and got confirmation that there is no need for a name change on the tickets). Be aware that according to Director Barbera, if you have bought tickets for the 7 pm viewing in “Sala Grande” you won’t be able to attend the red carpet.

While walking around, keep your eyes open because the streets of Lido will be star-studded, last year we bumped into Luca Guadagnino, the king himself, Bong Joon-Ho, Chase Stokes, and the list goes on.

Hope this guide was helpful, remember that everything aforementioned is based on our personal experiences. The 2019 festival experience was completely different from 2021 and this year could be utterly different from what we experienced in the previous years.

That's all from us for now! Happy Venice Film Festival season and hope everyone going will get the chance to see Timothée.
